How to ensure you are buying the real Swarovski ®

Swarovski® crystal components are generally regarded as the finest machine-cut beads in the world. Swarovski® include a special compound which give their beads their own famous brilliance. However, as only the Strauss range have etched logos, it is prudent to be aware of imitations. I myself obtained some recently and although on initial glance they seemed pretty enough, there was something not quite right. On closer inspection, several showed glaring faults. The following points are to help you determine which crystals are genuine:

Swarovski® have no bubbles inside.
The Swarovski® AB finish crystals have a smooth uniform coating: there are no swirl marks
Swarovski® crystals are perfectly uniform. As they are computerized machine-cut, every crystal of the same design is identical: same height, slope and width.
Following on from this point, each facet juncture meets at precisely the same point, giving Swarovski® its incredible colour flash.

Fake!

In this example, there is an obvious air bubble! Such inclusions never escape from
the Swarovski factory! Their quality control is absolutely superb!

Fake!

Here we have a small (but nevertheless conclusive) anomaly within the 'Aurora
Borealis' finish. Again, this would never pass QC at Swarovski!
